Review of Winter Light (1963) by Paul K — 24 Feb 2008
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. My first Bergman picture and it was a real treat. I'm not a very religious person, yet I found this movie religiously uplifting. The starring role injects a pathos that you just don't find in most movies today.
Highly recommended, but watch it when you're wide awake, cuz it moves slowly and lives up to its gloomy title. Watch for Max von Sydow as a young man, otherwise known as The Exorcist!
