Review of Winter Light (1963) by Juan C — 17 Apr 2008
Wonderfully bleak. To me, every dialogue, every sentence, every word resonated powerfully and provoked thought. Bergman is exceptional in conveying the inner pains of his characters, and I have come to admire him since he has the balls to make highly personal films.
I rarely rate 5 stars to films and I do only when the film leaves a deep impression on me. Might be the present phase in my life but I identified at a certain level with this film, this is why Winter Light goes directly to my top 10 list.
