Review of Winnie the Pooh (2011) by Alexander R — 23 Nov 2011
If there is one of a few movies out there that makes you look like a heartless son of a bitch for not liking it's "Winnie the Pooh". Much like the movie this is gonna be a short review.
This takes me and many other people back to a more innocent time, and that's the best way to describe this movie...innocent. It feels just like the original Winnie the Pooh movie that came out in the 70s. It manages to keep it's dignity, it doesn't try to urbanize Winnie the Pooh at all, and it even wasn't made as a money grab. It feels like they wanted to make the movie, just because they wanted to make a really good movie that's beautifully animated, has a since of humor and makes the adults feel like kids again. However the fact that it feels just like the movie from the 70s leads to the fact that there is nothing special about it. That's a very small complaint and it's still enjoyable, especially for little kids, similar to when I saw the first movie on VHS.
It still really upsets me that they decided to release the movie to compete with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" because if it weren't for the hardcore Disney fans, this movie would've been long forgotten. Despite it's run time of 63 minutes, I can seeing being nominated for Best Animated Feature (especially since this is the first year a Pixar film WON'T get a nomination).
