Review of Winnie the Pooh (2011) by Kate S — 17 Feb 2018
I will say, the artwork and animation is beautiful especially the background nature like trees and the meadows. I know this is meant to be a children's movie, but I really hate how they misspell words. It takes away from kids actually learning the correct spelling of certain words. I also don't like how dumb and almost useless Pooh makes out to be. He's the representation of what a typical useless American would be: a dumb, misinformed, illiterate, fat ass.
This movie honestly falls kind of dull. The characters are almost annoying and somewhat useless. You got the depressed donkey, Eeyore; the always frightened piglet, and the dumb worthless Pooh. I wish it showed kids how to over come obstacles instead of getting in them, and just being bumbling idiots about the whole situation. And isn't Christopher Robin a little bit too old to be writing the illiterate way he does?
I have a dark theory about what's going on with this whole story. Maybe Christopher Robin has some sort of mental handicap and is schizophrenic or something. And these characters sort of represent different emotions that C.R. goes through.
Overall, really short and pretty basic animation movie that's funny at times and charming with pretty visuals.
