Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Tim R — 29 Jan 2008
The best black and white movie of the modern era (not hard when the Cameraman was the same old geezer who shot La Belle et La Bête), Wings of Desire is a poignant look at a Germany yet to find its footing; to re-emerge from under the shadow of its horrific past; capturing the moment right before the Wall fell and the World changed forever while, at the same time, quietly meditating on what it means to be alive.
Beautiful.
