Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Paul K — 12 Jan 2016
This seemed an appropriate film to watch on the day that Bowie's death provoked a media frenzy. Wenders is at least as gnomic as Bowie. It's a slow movie, but with some interesting shots of a derelict pre-Unification Berlin.
The conceit that angels, mute and monochrome, witness our experience from outside of time, verges on the voyeuristic. Nick Cave gets a look in. We watched it once before, many years ago - I think I enjoyed it more the first time.
