This isn't a very good sci-fi movie at all and you'll definitely see better ones but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. Sure the story isn't much cop and the laughable acting by Prinze Jr and Matthew Lillard drag the movie down.
The special effects are excellent though. Years ahead of the Battlestar Galactica series the ships in Wing Commander use torpedoes and gunfire as opposed to lasers. All I can say is don't take it too seriously or expect it to be like Star Wars cos it isn't.
Just sit back, enjoy the good vs evil space battles that this movie has to offer.
