WIND RIVER-2017(R)-Sept. 1.
By:Clem The Movie Guy.
Wind River is the final chapter in screenwriter Taylor Sheridan?s thematic American Frontier series that began in 2015 with Sicario & was followed by last year?s Hell or High Water. Wind River is set in the harsh terrain of the snowy expanse of Wyoming on the Wind River Indian Reservation where life is often very difficult. On a routine hunt in the foothills for predatory animals, Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner), a US Fish & Wildlife Service agent discovers the body of Natalie Hanson (Kelsey Chow), an 18-year-old Native American woman. After Lambert reports the crime, Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen), a young FBI agent from Las Vegas arrivals to investigate the obvious homicide. As Jane trys to figure out who killed Natalie, she finds herself immersed in the harsh reality of life in this small isolated Native American community. In addition to writing the screenplay, Taylor Sheridan makes his directorial debut with this masterful story of the stark struggle to survive for Native Americans living on the reservation. Wind River is incredibly gripping & intensely captivating. The performances from the cast which also includes Graham Greene as Ben, Indian Tribal Police Chief, & Jon Bernthal as Natalie?s boyfriend Matt Rayburn, were all stupendous. Jeremy Renner gives one of the BEST performances of his career & should gets some major award consideration. Wind River should also get some major consideration for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, & Best Cinematography (beautiful & haunting landscapes). Wind River is a MUST-SEE FILM that can?t be missed.
