Review of Wind River (2017) by Wayne K — 05 Nov 2017
Incredible film, I struggled to find this in Australia cinemas, much like Australian films but that's another argument. This grabbed me from the opening setup and I didn't flinch for the remaining minutes.
The film has a consistent tone that doesn't attempt to twist and turn, just deliver an interesting clash of culture with a slight whodunit. The writer and director will use this foundation to continue as a filmmaker, once a writer, he clearly has an eye for the directors seat as well.
The atmospheric film keeps you guessing while the characters hold the film together, this not a very happy movie and it is all the more better for it. I'm on board for whatever the director chooses next and I hope he continues on this impressive run.
This bounced right into my top films of 2017. 05-11-2017.
