Review of Wind River (2017) by Jon S — 27 Dec 2017
The injection of overt social commentary felt forced and I'm still not sure whether whether the final act was unrealistic or shockingly realistic. Those minor quibbles aside, this was an engaging, tightly-crafted genre movie in the gritty minimalist style of the superior No Country for Old Men.
The atmosphere was appropriately bleak and tense, the acting and dialogue were great without ever being showy or superfluous, and the finale was satisfying. This movie stuck with me in a good way.
