Review of Wind River (2017) by Isadore H — 29 Aug 2017

First off, shoutout to Chris Stuckmann for reviewing this film, I had no idea what this was even about, but his review made me go and watch this one. I'm just going to say this straight out, Wind River is one of the top three films of 2017, maybe second only to War for the Planet of the Apes and MAYBE Logan, I'm not sure.

Anyway, Wind River is about a homicide case in an Indian reservation that is being investigated by Jeremy Reneer and Elizabeth Olsen. These two have great chemistry on screen, but Renner is the one who shines the most.

I honestly think his performance is worthy of an Oscar nomination. The acting in general is phenomenal from everyone, and not one performance felt overdone or our of place, which is really impressive when one looks at the dark and intense material in this film.

This film is also really well shot, the landscape is used really well, and provides a legitimate sense of coldness during the film. The ending is fantastic, I thought for a second it'd feel tacked on, but it worked perfectly in the film.

Wind River is a film that is almost necessary watching, and one I look forward to revisiting in the future.
