Review of Wind Chill (2007) by James T — 01 Apr 2008
I caught this on Starz while I was in Florida and I spent most of the movie trying to figure out of it was a horror/ghost story or not. It was even though it wasn't scary in the least (but then again...not many horror movies are).
Regardless, it did have some interesting elements and I can't say I was bored at any point in the film. I did scoff from time to time and at one point, laughed when our heroine climbs a frozen telephone pole with a trusty phone she happens to have in the car. (She hoped to jack it into the line to call for help...I'm not saying that isn't possible but I am saying a half frozen girl up a live power pole should have disaster written all over it).
What the movie does well is set the a tone of total isolation. Despite being in a car together, Holmes and Simmons seemed isolated from one another throughout the movie and when they finally do seem to come together, it is quickly wretched away.
I'd say check this movie out if you're looking for something to do and it pops up on TV. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way.
