25 DAYS OF HELLIDAY HORROR.

#19: WIND CHILL (2007).

Suspense filled, cold chilled wth sudden thrills, 'Wind Chill' is a dark stocking-stuffer full of mystery and just downright weird stuff. The plot is pretty basic to start with. Two college kids share a ride home during the Christmas break. As they travel the snowy highways, they attempt to get to know eachother. The guy (Ashton Holmes) is sort of weird to begin with, and it is obvious that he likes the girl (Emily Blunt). When the strange guy decides to take a snow covered turn-off called Highway 606 things get really weird. They are run off of the road by an oncoming car. When they awake their car is stuck in a snow bank down in the woods, off of the road. Then things get really weird!

Overall: It was very suspenseful which made it very interesting. The fact that they never say the names of 'the guy' or 'the girl' makes you atleast want to keep watching to see what either of their names are are. The girl is a royal bitch at first and you almost want to see her die or get killed somehow, but her character begins to show signs of changing as the plot becomes ultimately stranger. Not much more about the plot can be described without spoling it. I can say that it does not involve any psycho santa's or evil snowmen or even possessed toys but it does involve death and a deranged past history of Highway 606. It's not a slasher flick, its more of a haunting, horror thriller that centers on the dark woodland area and the eerie highway. There are creepy figures out in the woods, its very weird. The acting was fair. The performances by the guy and girl are both very diverse and real. The atmosphere of this movie was great, it really felt cold and overwhelming. There are some pretty good scare scenes and some really eerie looking things, but there wasn't a high level of gore which I was expecting for some reason. A cold holiday chiller. It was overall a very nicely paced movie that stayed interesting. It really did make for a nice holiday horror/ thiller. Definitely worth a watch. Happy Holidays!
