Review of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) by Alastair H — 18 Apr 2013

Gene Wilder gives a fantastic performance as the bizarre Willy Wonka. I prefer this film to the Tim Burton adaptation but that could just be because I adored this film as a child. Looking back on it now it is a slightly awkward mix of British story telling combined with american language and culture (Matilda would go on to do a similar thing).

I can understand why Dahl didn't like it. Having said that, I do like the cast and love Wilder's Wonka over Depps. (19.4.13).
