Review of Wild Target (2010) by Evan S — 01 Aug 2010
The 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival, played host to an erray of brilliant films this year. For me however black comedy Wild Target would have to have been the shining star.
Wild Target is a black comedy revolving around professional hitman Victor (Bill Nighy) who is hired to kill Rose (The brilliant Emily Blunt) but instead of killing her, he ends up saving her and gaining a sidekick in Tony (A hilarious performance by Rupert Grint) along the way.
Wild Target is funny, fresh and well acted. There is ample plot and the characters are developed nicely. Director Jonathan Lynn obviously knows how to get the best from his actors, and it shows as each of the kooky characters are funny and likable. Even the villains.
Everything in this film gels perfectly together. It's a comedy that will actually make you laugh and smile, which is a rarity these days. highly recommended.
