Review of Wild Strawberries (2012) by Matthew F — 18 Jun 2010
Ingmar Bergman has a true comprehension of the static relationship between surrealism and reality. In Wild Strawberries Victor Sjostrom plays the part of a man beyond his age of understanding, living in a state of existence where his personal beliefs have become enigmatic.
This film, like every other Ingmar Bergman film; has a breathtaking cast of actors that breathe life into your soul.
Ingrid Thulin is my favorite actress, I'm always inspired by her performances--in her role of Marianne Borg, Thulin plays on a dynamic relationship between Marianne and Isak, (Sjostrom) shadowing a nature of their characters where they both have common love and despair of their lonely lives.
This is an existential film like no other; Bergman crosses all the barriers of age and understanding with the beauty of the unknown.
