Review of Wild Strawberries (2012) by Jim E — 05 Aug 2010
As far as contemplative art goes, this is as good as it gets; and I'm not just talking about film; this is as profound and thoughtful as any literature. It is also well photographed, and the acting is flawless.
But it is not plot-driven. It is not about a story, it is about the process of aging, death, loneliness, desire for life, desire for death, love, regret, youth, etc. And some people don't really like this kind of movie, and that is fine; in fact, that may be healthy.
