Review of Wild Strawberries (1957) by Noel R — 11 Dec 2007
One of the best films ever. My favorite non-English film. Bergman's camera chronicles the subtle psychological traumas we endure in a world that God has abandoned. We are haunted by religious symbols, by the possibility of evil, by one another.
At the heart of Wild Strawberries is Victor Sjöström's performance as Isak Borg. This tale is pure beautiful in every way.
