Mr. Lynch has an insanely devoted fan following, who treats each installment of his work as if it were another masterpiece. I say this because this is the fourth film I've seen from Mr. Lynch, and I have a great respect for the man's work, but this is a film that really takes some of my goodwill away towards the highly acclaimed director. This is a movie that is quite captivating at times, but the rest of the film tends to be just draining, and teeters towards the side of a bit melodramatic.

Dafoe's introduction into the film was a lot of fun, but he too began to grate on my nerves as the film peddled along to its conclusion. I think Dafoe was trying to attempt to mimic Dennis Hopper's wonderfully creepy performance in Blue Velvet, but he never seemed to achieve what he was going for with the character.

The screaming of the women throughout the film became a bit unnecessary in spots, and I just passed on this one in favor of say Elephant Man. Anyways, hopefully Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive can get Mr. Lynch back in my good graces.
