Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Kenneth S — 20 Jan 2009
If THE WIZARD OF OZ was a love story directed by David Lynch, it would be titled WILD AT HEART.
That being said, this film wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. Still, though, it's a beautifully filmed journey through the lives of two young lovers (Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern) as they dance and screw their way through life. Meanwhile, Lula's (Dern) mother (Laura Dern's real life mother Diane Ladd) is out to kill Sailor (Cage) for something she thought he saw. Fun, vibrant, vivacious, the film just doesn't seem to hold up all the way through.
