Review of Wild (2014) by Vance F — 01 Apr 2015

I think if you read the book you'll enjoy it more than I did. I did not read the book, so some the back story that had to be edited out for time and I didn't know, was lost on me. Certain characters and interactions didn't resonate as much since I didn't read the book.

However, Reese still gives a great performance and it's a wonderful story. It'll make you want to get out and hike a trail for a bit.

I didn't find enough conflict in her journey. It was much more an inner struggle/conflict through memories and her reflections along the actual trip. It's not uncommon for the main character to overcome inner conflict, but there's usually an "ah-ha" moment the audiences experiences with the character to finally overcome the conflict. I couldn't find that moment.
