Review of Wild (2014) by Perry B — 08 Feb 2015
Wild is a cathartic look at Cheryl Strayed who walked the Pacific Crest Trail in order to deal with the death of her mother, her divorce along with all the bad decisions of her life. Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern give really strong performances but I feel that the writing and editing are what make this film what it is.
All the flashbacks inform what happens in the film and without them it would have the emotional strength that is has. The film also have fantastic cinematography capturing the gorgeous locations. A Strong film from Jean -Marc Vallee.
