Review of Wicker Park (2004) by Dianna D — 07 Apr 2013
I surprisingly found this to be a good movie. Alright, it wasn't exactly a good movie, but I thought it was very entertaining and if you step away from the crazy coincidences and take them as just coincidences, you can enjoy it for what it has, and it may even make you think even if it's only for a short time.
The thing I found most interesting about it was the structure of the story. It's the thing that is hated on by critics the most, but it is also the most daring and yes, cool part about it. I thought it did a really good job of explaining it all in the end too. I thought that at the end it was just going to end with no explanation and just keep you in the dark but that's not what happened. It brought it all around again and in a spectacular fashion. The acting wasn't bad either. I thought the actors did a pretty good job for the most part.
So, do I believe that Wicker Park is a terrible movie. No. Actually, I think it is very underrated and deserves a lot more than the 23% it was given. I'm not saying it mid 80s to 90s gold, but I just think it was a bit misunderstood. It has its flaws but in the end, it's a competently made movie that has a pretty sweet reveal.
