Review of Wicker Park (2004) by Ana P — 22 Jun 2008
Some of the write-ups of this film are misleading, and I only recorded it because the Radio Times online recommended it! I am so glad I did! Once again Josh Hartnett is a class act in this wonderful twisty thriller set in modern day Chicago.
The viewer is constantly changing his or her mind about where the narrative will go next and the ending almost had me on the edge of my seat shouting out (good job I was in the comfort of my own sitting room!) It had a definite French quality about it, esp.
the cinematography and the storyline and with slick editing and fantastic acting this is a completely unmissable film! Good sideburn rating: 5/10 - Josh needed a bit more facial hair in this (see Lucky Number Slevin for reference!) but in the non-corporate scenes, he scores good marks.
Presence of sartorially elegant men: 10/10 God, Mr Hartnett could wear a teatowel and wear it with style and finesse. I am not sure whether he was ever a model, but he certainly knows how to wear clothes, and very good ones he wears too! Hoorah for stripy scarves!
