Review of Why We Fight (2005) by Jeff S — 13 May 2008
This is most likely the greatest documentary I've seen to date, far surpassing the simple minded observations of the previously popular Michael Moore. [Warning: 'plot' spoiler] What I found most interesting about this was how the U.
S. policy makers have learned from mistakes of the past and created such a system that has basically taken a grip of the world... all the while there has been freedom of media (which they showed being the cause of the removal in the Vietnam War), and no standing army (large contributor of the fall of the Roman Empire), but rather Capitalism as the spearhead for world domination.
It's much more complicated than just this, but another great message I thought was the middle eastern man at the end who spoke of how all large empires have fallen because of their inability to gain that empire through decency, and then the movie provides perhaps a simple solution to how to stop this one (not that I think it would work).
.. but who knows what the future has in store. This is a must watch for anyone who gives a damn about what's going in the history books of our generation.
