Review of Who's Harry Crumb? (1989) by Alan L — 22 May 2009
This largely ignored caper was the Live Action Scooby Doo for young persons excited about seeing John Candy become a man of a thousand faces. I was too young to understand most of the set-pieces when I first saw it (what's wrong with a car with no brakes? What's with the footsie joke?) and on second watch you wish Candy had doubled the amount of characters he takes on.
The thing about successful overweight male comedians is that their efforts to entertain are always heartfelt, even though its a low budget B comedy, you feel like Candy put his all in as if it was the only movie he would ever star in.
