Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Jacob W — 13 Jan 2008
Few directors can successfully bring the stage to the screen; and I don't think anyone has done it successfully as Mike Nichols - and it was his first movie! This is an incredibly sharp, wickedly savage script that is in turns hilarious, shocking, and dramatic.
Fantastic performances all around, but the two leads especially. Burton and Taylor play a perfect game of one-upmanship, but event he supporting characters pull off some amazing work. What a great movie.
