Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Lauren D — 16 May 2010
I put this off for years because it looked and sounded really boring. I mean, really? That plot summary makes you fall asleep.
However, I REALLY liked it. I knew I would straight away when I realized that Taylor and Burton could act. The dialogue was good, their chemistry was good, etc. There were a couple of parts that I didn't like - when Segal and Burton are chatting in the yard and the 'revelation' at the end. But, the acting was amazing enough for me to look past it. I didn't go crazy over Dennis, but that was probably because she was annoying as hell. Everyone seems to hate Segal, but I actually liked him because he was sort of the 'normal' one and I sometimes felt the others were a bit OTT.
