Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Karen B — 16 Sep 2012
Incredibly nuanced, complex performances portraying four twisted, broken people caught up in an almost unendurable attempt to hang onto some semblance of humanity. They simultaneously destroy and defend themselves and each other, in an escalating spiral of desperation.
Between mutual attacks, at their most extreme they turn to defend and patch each other up - minimally - in a smorgasbord of deepest rage alternating with pain-filled, despairing exhaustion.
