Review of Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006) by Leo A — 17 Jun 2008
It's an enlightening look at what could have been a great alternative to what's presently available and the forces that conspire against progress. At the same time, the film often seems pretty one-sided and dismissive of arguments that aren't completely laudatory of the concept. Several legitimate concerns (range, switching dependence from one type of fossil-fuel to another) might be mentioned briefly, but are seldom addressed adequately. The fetishization of the EV1 can also get to be a bit much.
Personally, I wish the film could have been more technical, particularly when comparing the electric car to other alternative fuel sources (fuel cells, etc). I realize that I'm probably in the minority in that regard.
