Review of Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006) by Yayo U — 20 Jun 2009
The point of the documentary appears redundant. I understand the activists lament that car companies are unwilling to promote the electric cars and they are taken off from the road.
Unfortunately, the good point of the electric car is not so emphasized. The film makers should show more scientific data with graphs to make the public believe the advantage of the electric car. People compare oil with electricity with their experiences. For instance, an oil stove is much cheaper than an electric stove. People who choose oil stoves would hardly choose electric cars.
Even if the casts in the film stress the electric car is fast, it isn't convincing to buy it because people do not need a faster car than an ordinary car. If it is fast, activists should convince the police men and taxi drivers fast. If it is good for the environment, it would be better that electric cars would be used for the public transportation fast.
It is a weak argument that the same several people just repeat that the electric car is efficient. People who have never used electric cars tend to be skepticism. From the current documentary, people could hardly share how efficient the car could be.
But I still want more people to watch this documentary because the people against electric cars have ignored the activists who urge the innovative cars for our environment.
