Review of Whiteout (2009) by Shawn-Ray M — 07 Mar 2010
Greg Rucka's comic was a thrilling read that held your interest through out. The pacing and suspense was top notch and all-in-all it was a great read. The movie, on the other hand, is the exact opposite.
Some changes were made, as is the case with nearly all adaptations (and, just as often, needlessly) and any element of suspense, or even a decent sense of pacing is void. That isn't to say it's all bad.
It's decently shot, the acting is good, and, aside from some low-budget effects, it all in all looks good. But for the most part it just isn't that enjoyable of a movie. When I watch a thriller, I expect to feel suspense, and Whiteout failed to do that for me.
