The acting is intensely good, especially by Alison Lohman. The film left out a lot of what the book had in the beginning, but the film focused mainly on what was important about the book (which I'm glad about).
So many of the characters seemed so complex and human. All and all, a good translation from book to movie (though you still got to read the book to see the differences).
