Review of White Oleander (2002) by Alex S — 08 Mar 2008
This film is a very poetic look at the search for comfort and identity that is innate in all humans. I also enjoyed the commentary the film makes on the irony of taking away a girl from her mother (who happened to murder someone) and throwing her into the volatile, violent and unforgiving atmosphere of foster care.
This film was excellent but it still felt like it lacked certain parts that would have made the film more solid. (One will not be surprised to note that certain scenes were not shot or put into the film to keep it at a pg 13 rating) I felt that decision hurt the film.
Otherwise, it's great.
