Review of White Oleander (2002) by Leighanne M — 08 Feb 2009
I was very impressed with this movie--I thought the story was powerful and the acting superb--a nice change for Michelle Pheiffer with a more aggressive role; the protagonist you love to despise in a lot of ways.
From what I understand, those that read the book first are less than fond of it, but as I haven't read the book yet, I was very happy with the film. Wonderful supporting class and very moving story, albeit a bit disturbing and sad at times-- Astrid is a very powerful character, as is Ingrid.
Looking forward to the book.
