Review of White Heat (1949) by Felicia M — 15 Mar 2008
A truly great film. James Cagney's portrayal as Cody Jarrett is flawless-menacingly cold-hearted (yet frighteningly real) pshycotic gangster. Each thug is as twisted as the last-perhaps the most twisted being Cody Jarrett's 'ma.
' His relationship with his mother is the axel which this films revolves around, which makes this film even more chilling. The final scene is arguably the best of all time, "Made it, Ma! Top of the world!".
