Review of White Heat (1949) by Katie B — 12 Jul 2008
"Made it, Ma! Top of the world!" Cody Jarrett certainly had a few screws loose. This is probably Cagney's best role, although it may not have been his best film. Some of the high-tech features of the film seem very dated today, but such flaws can easily be ignored when psychopathic Jody is on screen making wisecracks, killing for fun and being a mentalist.
He was the Tony Montana of his day.
