Review of White Heat (1949) by Willem W — 13 Jul 2009
I taped this off CBC when I was a teenager and watched it countless time when I was enjoying my chronic insomnia. The coolest gangster movie ever. Twisted, funny, action-packed, coolness oozes from every frame of this total masterpiece. James Cagney was not only The Bomb in this film, he invented what being the Bomb is all about.
Watched this again last night on TCM. WOW! I would love to see a period remake of this film directed by Michael Mann, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Cody and Susan Sarandon as "Ma" (to play up the Oedipal themes of the film).
