Review of White Heat (1949) by Edgar C — 21 Apr 2010
Breathtaking, brilliant film-noir that shaped the things to come from the genre in the subsequent decades. The Oedipal nature of the protagonist contrasted with his seriously brutal, cold-blooded nature was a magnificent concept back in the 40s, something that would influence subsequent Coppola and Scorsese characters. The decade was giving its conclusion about the genre, and the American film industry created, just in time, a crime masterpiece that mandatorily must be found in any Top 20 Gangster list.
99/100.
