Review of White God (2014) by Peter O — 28 Jan 2016
When I saw the premise to White God that dogs were uprising against the humans, that signed me up, and while there wasn't much of it until the climax, I still thought that White God is an amazing movie that I'm still glad that I watched it.
It's about a little girl with a dog that has to stay at her father's house, and when things don't go as plan, the father puts the dog outside as he and his daughter drive away from the dog as the dog is alone in the world.
The movie goes to two stories, the daughter name Lili, and the dog name Hagen, and both of them are very interesting with the daughter looking for the dog as Hagen is trying to deal with the people as no one take care for him.
There are some scenes that are hard to watch, but they do get the point across, just in the most brute way. Zsófia Psotta is really good, and the dog actors for Hagen are fantastic in this. When it gets to the uprising scenes, it's the most impressive animal acting that I've seen since The Birds, heck, I think it's the most impressive acting I've seen from an animal ever.
It gets tense in those scenes, and can be terrifying to watch, even though you know why they are doing it, and can understand why. White God is a smart and sad movie that really does show that people need to stop thinking of them as trash and actually take care of the animals.
