Review of White God (2014) by Mxnds T — 10 Jul 2016
For the first 90 minutes of this film, I was in love... it was truly amazing. I love dogs, and at times, it hurts watching the scenes with dog fighting, borderline abuse, but it really made you care. The lead alpha dog, Hagen, felt like he was more than just a character, thanks to great directing from KornÃÃ, (C)l MundruczÃÃ,³.
I liked Lili's character, people can say she is boring or dull, I can agree to a certain extent but I enjoyed her part. I'd give this movie 5 stars but.... The last 30 minutes absolutely nothing made sense, goes from inspiring foreign drama about a young teen's journey to find her lost lovable companion to a poor mans horror movie about dogs getting revenge on previous characters in the movie that were mistreating them.
And from how the dogs went from location to location, how the entire city was on lockdown. Major plot holes that ruined the movie for me. I could not grasp this whole revenge concept, it bends everything into some fantasy horror film that takes away from the immersion.
I finished with a bad taste in my mouth.
