Review of White Fang (1991) by Ryan F — 19 Mar 2008
A childhood favorite of mine, White Fang was the first and one of maybe two movies that made me cry (though I think I was crying about something else and the movie just happened to be on TV at the same time.
..). Even now, the humanization of the title wolf is on the mark. In a movie with a lot of touching moments, White Fang looking at the jerky, then at Ethan Hawke is the best one. It's one of the more serious live action Disney films, and it's nice that they didn't "Disney" it up too much.
Decent acting by the humans and great acting by the animals. Famous furry thespian Bart the Bear even has an appearance; how do they train these guys? Anyway, even with its imperfections, White Fang is still one of my fave family films ever.
