Review of White Dog (1982) by Susan K — 10 Feb 2009
Disclaimer: I had *high* hopes for this movie. Seriously. I thought this film was going to change my world. It didn't - perhaps, in part, because I've always found Kristy McNichol to be a bit goofy.
Still, I loved the crazy zooms, the dog's POV shots, and Burl Ives! (His R2D2 rant is fantastic.) Also, Fuller's interview of the dog in the Criterion book is a perfect companion for this film.
So, all in all, I totally get why this is considered one of Fuller's pulp-political masterpieces - and I will probably love it more as the days wear on.
