Review of White Dog (1982) by Daniel W — 15 May 2009
The film deals with the delicate subject of racism in Fuller's unique, direct style. Despite the violence it commits, the dog is never portrayed as a conventional 'monster' that should be destroyed.
The dog is docile, protective and even playful with its mistress, turning into an unstoppable beast out for blood when a black person crosses its path. This duality adds a layer of suspense as the viewer does not know when the dog may attack.
