Review of White Christmas (1954) by Mark J — 21 Dec 2008
Christmas staple, though not as good as it should be. "Sisters" is the hit song, but we get overkill - we have to go through THREE different renditions of it. Bing & Kaye make a good duo, but the girls are nothing to write home about.
There's some chemistry missing along the way, but some of the dance routines are really very good. 'White Christmas' is the final number, but the scene is an anti-climax rather than a crescendo.
The santa Claus outfits just look naff, not unlike the fake snow on the studio set. Still worth seeing to tick it off your list!
