Review of White Christmas (1954) by Annette B — 14 Dec 2010
White Christmas is a classic musical and holiday film. Fun, enjoyable, and with a pretty decent story it shines among holiday films especially with Irving Berlin's music. Michael Curtiz delivers a well shot and captured story with good talent attached.
Crosby, while good, feels a bit old here and allows Kaye to steal the show. Kaye really shines getting to sing and dance and still be his comedic self but in a bit more serious way than usual. Clooney matches Crosby well but with a bit more life in her performance.
Mary Wickes is great in a small role and Vera-Ellen dances wonderfully and is a good younger sister to Clooney. Lots of fun, laughter and great music!
