Review of White Boy Rick (2018) by Mike L — 24 Sep 2018
Would this movie have been made if a teenager had only spent 5 years instead of 30 for drug dealing? The movie shows a depressing life of a young man recruited by the FBI to rope in dope dealers in the Detroit of the 1980's and then when let go begins to deal himself. The help he gave the FBI then to inform on dealers with the promise of a lenient sentence never transpired.
Rick has spent 30 years in prison, the longest sentence for a non-violent crime in Michigan's history. Matthew McConaughey as Rick's father is great What a treat to see two "old timers" as Rick's grandparents, Bruce Dern and Piper Laurie.
