A film whose potential is undeniable but whose execution is only decent.White Boy Rick boasts a lot of very impressive individual elements, but could have stood to benefit from fewer cliche plot beats and a greater sense of narrative urgency.
I do like that it approaches so much of its subject matter with a subtle, deft hand, allowing the audience to interpret nuance rather than making every emotion explicit. Sigh. I like this genre of film, but it really needs to be more than this in order to stand out.
