Review of White Bird in a Blizzard (2014) by Eytan D — 27 Feb 2015
Shailene Woodley is a fantastic actress. But in the case of "White Bird in a Blizzard", her best efforts get lost in a confusing, overall unpleasant coming of age movie that also attempts to play as a crime thriller.
Unfortunately, a good ensemble can't help Gregg Araki's script, which is littered with unlikeable, undecipherable characters. Next to Woodley, the strongest link is Eva Green as her mother. Though the character is somewhat of an enigma, she manages to capture the spirit of a severely unhappy woman.
Overall, this white bird got lost in the blizzard.
