Review of Whistle Down the Wind (1961) by Dave C — 09 Aug 2007
An enjoyable encounter between the innocence of rural English children the aburdism of the British New Wave. The story needed a bit of trimming aruond the edges and Hayley Mills wasn't great, but the rest of the cast are superb.
And although the central concepts are somewhat trite, the film is directed with grace and naturalism and is a pleasure to watch.
